These terms cover your use of Skyfold Astra, an iOS and Android sky-exploration app from nitpick labs. By using Astra, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, stop using the app.

Using Astra

You may use Astra's supported features to explore the sky, choose observer places, find celestial objects, and view calculated positions at different times. Do not interfere with the app or its supporting services, redistribute the app as your own product, or remove its ownership and attribution notices.

An approximate sky

Astra is an educational and exploratory sky map. Its calculations and display are approximate and idealized. Clouds, daylight glare, terrain, and atmospheric refraction are not modeled; the Sun and Moon may be enlarged for visibility. Historical local-clock values can be estimates, and catalog and calculated positions have limits.

Do not rely on Astra as a navigation, surveying, or precision-timing instrument. Independently verify information when accuracy matters for your intended use.

Places, permissions, and connections

Saved observer places, Android's bundled city list, and celestial searches work offline. On iOS, city autocomplete and place/timezone resolution use Apple Maps and require a connection. Opening website links also requires a connection. Current Location requires your permission; searching for an iOS city or choosing an already saved city does not require device location access.

Feature availability can differ by platform and version. In the current Android version, authoritative timezone lookup for Current Location is not connected. An unresolved place cannot supply a resolved sky.

Your data

Saved places and supported preferences are held in local app storage. Removing the app or clearing its storage can remove that data; any device backups are managed separately. Our Privacy Policy explains local storage, optional location requests, website access, and support correspondence.

Software, artwork, and attribution

The Astra app and nitpick labs branding belong to nitpick labs, except for identified third-party material. Astronomy software, star catalogs, and constellation data retain their original ownership and notices. The app's Credits & Attributions identify those sources and provide the relevant notices. These terms do not replace the notices supplied with third-party material.

Availability and updates

Astra is provided as available. We do not guarantee uninterrupted operation or that every displayed value will suit every purpose. We may fix, change, or discontinue features as the app develops. Preview and beta builds may include unfinished features. Keep the app updated for fixes and current behavior.
